Does comcom64 have the ability to have the host machine perform work for it?

I'm wondering if it would be possible to have language translations on the host in utf-8 .po format for comcom64, then when they need to be used, have the host transform the required string into the correct codepage for the DOS session. So for example the Portuguese translation typically comes in two flavours, cp850 for Brazil and cp860 for Portugal, could that be encoded on the fly providing the original translation on used characters that exist in both codepages?

has gettext(), so I think
the answer is yes, you can
use .po. Of course I never
tried it under dj64dev, so
it may not be properly
"ported".

It's common to just use _("string to be translated\n") where _ is typically defined to gettext, It need not actually be djgpp's gettext(), it could be my own assuming somehow I can call out to the host.

So seeing that dosemu2 is involved, is there any advantage in the dj64 mechanism over adding another 0xe6 interrupt subfunction?

Yes, I think 0xe6 is much
simpler, especially for
"Interest value mainly".

You can't call int e6 as
an inline asm though,
so you need something
like dpmi_int() and a _tb
machinery. But that's an
established practice.
