The Live Visual State Watcher is at the bottom of the Properties panel #44. It will be displayed if the selected element contains a Visual State Manager. Selecting a state will force the control into that state for previewing its behavior/display. However, interacting with the control can then reset the display to reflect the current states within the control's state machine.

If you're looking to help improve this functionality, the code for the visual state watcher can be found in the XamlStudio project's Properties.xaml.

The watcher itself is found within the XamlStudio.Toolkit VisualStateWatcher.cs class.
