What a disaster

There is little doubt that the aspire documentation is a disaster - its completely inaccurate and does not end with a successfull project - After spending countless weeks trying to build an Aspire project, I am at the end of my tether.

Its so frustrating when these technologies, that are no where near stable, are recommended. Just a simple task like adding a Postgres database is proving impossible. Even AI cant get it right. Co Pilot , Gemini and Codeium are not able to get a basic Postgres install working with an Aspire starter project on Ubuntu- So, out of frustration, I tried the same with SQLite - no success. A huge waste of time.

Do you have a repository I can clone and play with that shows the issues? Also can you share what your environment is (Ubuntu/WSL?), .NET version etc? I'll see if I can get it running.

My gut tells me you might be running docker engine (not docker desktop) and there might be some networking issues you are running into (at least with pgadmin).

The current documentation completely ignores explanations of how and when migration would run. Then there is the conflicting information on whether or not you need a hard coded connection string. Still a mystery how that is supposed to work. You would think aspire would handle the orchestration of the connection strings. When I did manage to get a running postgres container, the migrations wouldn't or hadn't run. Obviously with a new container every time, this needs to happen. Nothing in the docs about this - just completely ignored.

Yep! We're working on this with a new tutorial, it turns out it depends on the database provider (which is pretty unfortunate).

As you can see I had to downgrade back to desktop 1.47 because of errors.

After countless failures I stopped using source control because the project wasn't even working locally - and I deleted all those attempts locally. I must have had more than 15 attempts at this.

Do you know of any github projects I can clone that are using a postgres db with migrations ?

Thanks @davidfowl - that helps a lot - Although the database migrations project is based on SqlServer not Postgres.
