I am developing an application on ASP.NET Core 8 using Aspire for infrastructure management. I have containers set up for the database and message bus, and overall everything is working correctly. However, I’ve encountered a challenge when debugging use cases that interact with external HTTP services.
Problem:
When my code interacts with internal dependencies (database, message bus), I can easily debug my code through Aspire containers. But for external HTTP requests, I have to manually modify the code (e.g., by adding mocks) to emulate responses. This slows down the process of testing.
Question:
How can I configure Aspire or container integration to automatically replace external HTTP requests with mock responses during manual debugging? I need a solution that doesn’t require writing full-fledged tests but allows me to quickly test scenarios in the existing Aspire environment.
