Return expression

I'm not sure if this hasn't been proposed and dismissed already so forgive me if it was.

I would like the same functionality as the throw expression but then instead for the return statement.

This would come in handy in controller actions like here. Where instead of an exception you would like to return a business failure of some kind.

So the current line is

    [HttpGet]
    public async Task<IActionResult> Index()
    {
        var user = await _userManager.GetUserAsync(User);
        if (user == null)
        {
            return NotFound(_sharedLocalizer["USER_NOTFOUND", _userManager.GetUserId(User)]);
        }

And with the new feature it would look like

    [HttpGet]
    public async Task<IActionResult> Index()
    {
        var user = await _userManager.GetUserAsync(User)
            ?? return NotFound(_sharedLocalizer["USER_NOTFOUND", _userManager.GetUserId(User)]);
