Proposal: break out of nested loop.

This is a very simple language improvement. It is to add number to break so you can break out of multiple nested loops. e.g.

for(int x=0;x<100;x++){
   for(int y=0;y<100;y++){
      break 2;
   }
}

break 1; is the same as break; (break 0 would be the same as no break at all!) break all; would break out of all loops.

So simple! 😀

This is the perfect use-case for a goto. Normally I solve these problems with local functions however.

for(int i=0; i < 100; i++) {
   if(!DoThingOnOuter(i)) return false;
}

bool DoThingOnOuter(int outer) {
  for(int j=0; j < 100; j++) {
   if(DoThingOnInner(outer, j)) return false;
  }
}

bool DoThingOnInner(int outer, int inner) {
  // Do thing
}

Then why have break at all if we can just use goto? 🤔

Like many things in language design; makes the intent clearer. "I want to go here" vs "I am done with this,".

"I am done with these two things" is much less common and therefore doesn't have any syntactic sugar associated with it

Having used goto to exit outer loops, I haven't found goto afterXyzLoop; to be lacking any sense of "I am done with this."
