Tested aggressive minBuffer / maxBuffer settings?

Hi!
I'm having sync problems between audio and metadata in my application, which gets a radio stream and the "now playing" info from different sources (Azuracast radio software).
Basically, metadata usually gets ahead of the actual audio when Internet connectivity is unstable and the device buffers dozens of seconds before the user experiences a "jump" in the stream.
I've been studying the minBuffer and maxBuffer limits and think that lowering the maxBuffer might make the player lose more audio and "refresh" the stream when connectivity is unstable, which is the behavior I would prefer.
Has anyone played with different values and/or can provide recommendations?

No worries, I was not aware that grabbing metadata from the stream was possible, that is much better! :)
