Is this app expected to work on a Chromebook?

Before I invest time troubleshooting when the answer may already be known...is this app expected to work on Chromebooks?

For what it's worth, I was able to install the application and it seemed that my SmartSpin2k was actually detected (hooray!), however, the "Connect" button was not enabled. Here's a screenshot:

If needed, I'm happy to provide additional information re: OS version and hardware for the Chromebook...

P.S. - Love the SmartSpin2k device and the app on my phone! :)

haven't tested it on a chromebook at all. I'd love any feedback though!

I have the same issue - it installs on a chromebook fine but the connect button is not enabled. I think I read something about a bluetooth translation or something like that - basically how chromebooks run android apps is not exactly the same.

@Lunchtime0614 - I think you might be onto something so I did a little more digging. It looks like up until March of 2024 (when ChromeOS 122 was released) ChromeOS and Android did indeed use different Bluetooth stacks (ChromeOS used Bluez and Android used Flouride). Since then however it looks like ChromeOS now uses Android's Flouride implementation - https://chromeos.dev/en/posts/androids-bluetooth-stack-fluoride-comes-to-chromeos

This gave me hope that maybe my Chromebook was just not updated, however, for Christmas my kids got new Chromebook (ChromeOS version 132) and I found the app still seemed to work the same way (finds the SmartSpin2K, but the connect button isn't enabled). Still, I'm wondering/hoping this might be something that resolves itself as the underlying Bluetooth implementation/translation evolves in ChromeOS.

I'm not sure how to install an appimage to a chromebook - I followed some tutorial I found online and it said the file was not supported.

I used the AMD64 option since my Chromebook is using an Intel CORE m3 8th gen processor to which I believe is a x86 architecture. So that installed, but upon opening I get a blue screen on the app that says "Bluetooth Adapter is Unknown"

My machine specifically is an ASUS C434T running Chrome version 130.0.6723.126 and Chrome OS version
16033.58.0

When I run Chrome://system and expand the Bluetooth.log section I see this
2025-01-02T14:41:28.494733Z ERR btadapterd[2991]: bluetooth gd/os/linux_generic/files.cc:225 FileCreatedTime: unable to read '/var/log/bluetooth/btsnooz_hci.log' file metadata, error: No such file or directory

Also I don't understand the link that @keithjaska posted above but I see it referencing "Bluetooth Floss" which I also see is enabled on my Chromebook when going to Chrome://system
