V9 getA11yStatusMessage useMultipleSelection example please

Hello,

Since upgrading to v9 I'm aware you have taken out the getA11yStatusMessage 'x has been removed' messaging. 

I have tried to implement my own following your documentation but have been unsuccessful. 

Could you provide a working example please so I can learn / implement for our users.
