Transaction Savepoint in postgres

I have a transaction I have written like this

await db.transaction(async (tx) => {
  const [result1, result2] = await tx
    .insert(someTable)
    .values([
      {
        //...
      },
      {
        //...
      },
    ])
    .returning({ id: someTable.id });

  await tx
    .update(anotherTable)
    .set({
      //...
    })
    .where(),

      .update(anotherTable)
      .set({
        //...
      })
      .where();

  // SAVEPOINT??
  await tx.transaction(async (tx2) => {
    await tx2
      .update(differentTable)
      .set({
        a: result1.id,
      })
      .where();
    await tx2
      .update(differentTableTable)
      .set({
        a: result2.id,
      })
      .where();
  });
});

If the transaction tx2 errors, can I assume that the transaction before the SAVEPOINT would be committed? i.e the inserts and updates for someTable and anotherTable would be in the db. Currently, I see an error unless tx2 is wrapped in a try...catch. See the example for savepoints in the docs
