Silent fail in `xtl.autoproc fixnml --check`

In the following example command:

xtl.autoproc fixnml /path/to/processed/data/06_process/stratcal_gen.nml --from=/mnt/beegfs7/.../RAW_DATA --to=/path/to/raw/data --out_dir=../../post-processing --check --overwrite

if one provides --to=/path/to/processed/data instead of --to=/path/to/raw/data, then the --check flag passes even though the image files reported in the console do not exist. Possibly an error with the glob function?
