Implemented context-aware matching with preceded_by and followed_by conditions. Key insight: needed to pass both previous and next tokens to the rule matching function to enable full context awareness. The algorithm needed to be modified to look ahead when processing each token.
Learned that emit can be an array of tokens, not just a single token or scalar value. Each emitted token inherits properties from the original token but can override type and value fields. This enables powerful transformations where one source construct becomes multiple target constructs.
Verified that all bundled mapping files exist and contain the expected rules. The three bundled mappings (python-to-javascript, javascript-to-typescript, and python-to-pseudocode) were already implemented and tested. All scenarios for the bundled mappings feature were already covered by existing tests.
The tests in test_bundled_mappings.py were correctly named and passing, but the BDD_STATUS.md was showing them as uncovered due to a mismatch in the test naming convention used by the check_bdd_coverage.py script. This was resolved by ensuring the tests were properly named according to the scenario descriptions in BDD.md.
