BitlBee documentation?

Is there BitlBee documentation? Trying to join Slack channels didn't work. I may recall someone said create control channels first. That worked for one, but not another. There doesn't seem to be any documentation.

I too am thoroughly confused about how slack channels are supposed to work in bitlbee. If I /join #foo I'm the only one there even if the slack channel actually has hundreds of people in it. I get auto-joined and routinely kicked out of other channels every so often. Nothing makes any sense and I'm starting to think all of these proprietary protocols are not meant to be used by anyone other than the company that defined them, and trying to use them in 3rd party open source is an exercise in futility or, at best, abject frustration.
