[Question]: Internal Server Error 500 on brand new install

Question

Followed directions in the README.md to install a fresh 2.3.3. The installer wizard all works and MySQL is verified as well as the libs required. Once that is done it send sends me to the main page where I now get "Internal Server Error 500". I know this is a very generic error.

I've tried renaming the .htaccess to e107.htaccess and then get a File Not Found error. I also turned on debug in the config file but not sure where the output is located. I am adept at doing the technical work to figure this out but I have no idea how to go about troubleshooting.

Hi, if you are using the latest wamp, it is known issue, just delete some lines from .htaccess
Maybe this helps: #5509

I don't believe my host provides wamp since my webspace is on Linux. Wamp is for a Windows based system so not sure what that would have to do with it.

@sindizzy you are mentioning host... wamp is for local usage intended (yes could be used as private server).
As is on Linux : check related webspace info at host?
testcase q: .htaccess to e107.htaccess renamed.. use from a new zippack the e107.htaccess the renamed one could have some things changed.. the one from zip is untouched (basic,normal)

Ok I will try that. When you say the zipped one are you saying get the file from the latest release?

Should not be a real issue although in time (by versions) some lines were changed due to coding/security. When in doubt use from 2.3.3
