Examples have vanished and libraries

Everything was working perfectly and after restarting my PC it seems the lovely list of examples have vanished and also the libraries aren't in the folder. I can still choose the Pico boards though and upload to them.

I tried reinstalling Arduino ide and also this package in board manager to no luck.
I am new to this so the examples are quite important and I'm not sure what happened. Also to note, other libraries I have installed stayed where they are and their examples, just the Pico ones missing.

Update: the Examples for Raspberry Pi Pico section has reappeared somehow. possibly after another reboot, I've not touched it since

another update: they keep disappearing and reappearing no idea why

final update: just realised it was because i didnt always have the board set to raspberry pi pico
