Support for Pollutant Transport and Inverse Modeling in Lisflood

I am currently using the Lisflood model for my research and would like to explore its applicability for pollutant transport analysis, specifically for heavy metals. My goal is to simulate the transport of pollutants and perform inverse modeling to estimate source parameters and key transport processes.

I would appreciate any guidance on:

• How to extend or modify Lisflood to simulate pollutant transport.
• Whether there are existing modules or approaches for integrating contaminant transport within Lisflood.
• Best practices for inverse modeling in this context (e.g., parameter estimation, data assimilation).

Currently OS LISFLOOD does not have any modules related to contaminant transport. There has been a study using LISFLOOD output as input into a nutrient flux models (https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S221458181830226X ) but this has been done in a completely uncoupled manner.
If you would like to extend LISFLOOD to simulate pollutant transport it is highly recommended to add this feature as a module that can be switched off/on by users.
For parameter estimation please have a look at the calibration tool in the LISFLOOD utilities repositories.
