Current state of Woodstock and its external dependencies in GlassFish

Hi,

Today I found out that, while GlassFish uses the latest version of Woodstock, it still pulls in older versions of its JavaScript dependencies:

• dojo version 1.12.4 - see pom.xml, which is then used in the Admin Console WAR module: - it's an old version deployed with an old Woodstock version, with com.sun.woodstock.dependlibs groupId, before Woodstock was donated to the Eclipse Foundation. The current Woodstock version 6.0.1, used in GlassFish, depends on dojo version 1.15.0, with different artifact coordinates, which is, however, ignored by the WAR module. The WAR module should instead depend on the transitive dojo dependency from Woodstock and package it inside the WAR using the dependency plugin, as the dojo artifact instead of the dojo-ajax-nodemo artifact
• prototype - similar situation, except Woodstock doesn't provide any artifact with prototype anymore. GlassFish depennds on the older artifact with com.sun.woodstock.dependlibs prefix provided by an older Woodstock version. Woodstock should provide a prototype module similarly to the dojo module and GlassFish should depend on it as a transitive dependncy, not on the artifact with the com.sun.woodstock.dependlibs groupId

Work to do:

• Dojo version in Woodstock should be updated to the latest patch version of the 1.15.0 branch
• Add a new prototype module to Woodstock, similar to the existing dojo module
• replace the old dojo and prototype artifacts in GlassFish by the new ones. Preferably with transitive versions that are defined by the Woodstock version
