How to start RCP application via webstart?

WebStart classes were removed in #562, and as far as I know this happened without any prior notice on the mailing list. :-(

We still need an option to run RCP applications via WebStart (e.g. using OpenWebStart or IcedTea-Web).

Implementing our own launcher that behaves like the former WebStartMain is unfortunately not possible, because several members and methods were changed from protected to private in

These are deprecated since a few years now and the removal was almost a year ago so there seem not much interest in this feature anyways these days.

I would simply use an older Equinox launcher here, in general I don't know what prevents you from writing an own launcher, there should be public API for whatever you need to launch a framework on your own. If you think its useful it might be worth to create a public osgi-webstart-launcher project and then you can share any difficulties you encounter here to get help.
