Why does jdtls disable null analysis?

My team member uses Eclipse and has committed his configuration to the source repo.

I use jdtls with neovim and, for some reason, it always modifies the configuration to disable null analysis:

I know very little about Eclipse but I'd like to understand if there's something I can/should do to help jdtls honor these settings rather than changing them. Thanks!

"java.compile.nullAnalysis.mode":  "automatic"

Java LS recognizes javax.annotation.*, org.springframework.lang.* and org.eclipse.jdt.annotation.*.

Thanks for the reply! That looks promising. How is that configuration supplied to jdtls? Is it something I can supply as -D on the command-line?
