Tag a release?

Since #3472 was merged, I'm looking forward to a release.

Not sure what events typically cause a release to be tagged, but thought I'd ask if it would be easy to do that, or if there's something in the way.

Separately, the mention in the README of a mattermost channel seems to be obsolete?

we release about once a month, toward the end of the month. So we'll likely do it next week, between tuesday and thursday.

And yeah the eclipse mattermost instance is dead, we should remove that mention from the readme.
