information request: state of Maven 4 support

Is there a page or GitHub issue to monitor the state of Maven 4 support in m2e? I haven't yet migrated to Maven 4, but as Maven 4 makes progress I need to be aware of which tools support it, so that we can determine when migration would be feasible. Thank you.

I just found #1969 and #1982. (Ah ha—they didn't come up when I searched the issues for "Maven 4" because I had the state:open filter on, and those issues have been closed.) Still those tickets don't seem to give any official indication of the extent of Maven 4 support in m2e. Some page or section in the readme with official status would be welcome, and helpful in making migration decisions.

As you mentioned Maven 4 is not out (and still evolving), even then there will be some time before people have fully adapted it especially the eco-system around it (plugins, extensions, ...) so it is not entirely clear what will happen when.

Also due how M2E currently works it is not trivial to support Maven 3+4, so we have to make a decision if we then only want to support Maven 4 (what of course would be problematic if one needs to maintain projects of both kinds).

I have made some experiments already to make m2e more decoupled from the actual maven but this is quite some work for development and testing and currently there is no one really driving such efforts (neither wit money nor contribution time), so long story short, unless there are some strong demands, this will likely not happen soon.

Beside that, sponsoring is a good way to get specific issues fixed, so if this is crucial to anyone's business and you likes to speed up the development of m2e in general a sponsoring would allow me to assign more time-slots to development or one can contact me for an individual contract for example fixing a specific issue. Otherwise it might happen not earlier than when it becomes important for any of the core m2e devs.
