Relevance of WS_CARBON checks in Eclipse?

Are checks related to WS_CARBON still relevant in the current Eclipse codebase, given modern macOS uses Cocoa? What's their purpose now?

WS_CARBON is deprecated and marked for removal in Platform. So I assume all remaining checks of it could be removed as well.

Question: shouldn't the corresponding constants in org.eclipse.jface.util.Util also be deprecated? They are official API if I see it correctly --> #2966
