CommonAPI (Desoky Abdelqawy)

Proposal to switch communication framework to CommonAPI.
Including this in v0.5 is not feasible.
Open questions:

• Zero copy roadmap
• Safety Qualification

Valeo will provide FR for CommonAPI until Q3/2025.

• Rust workstream will focus on feature comparity with C++ API
• Any divergences in the API will be noted down as tickets, to sync C++ and Rust API afterwards
• C++ API will for the moment stay mostly stable until more pressing issues for v0.5 are taken care off (see S-CORE Roadmap (view))
• @crimson11 currently working on design for method support
  • workshop to dicuss design and API effects for Rust once design is finished

Timeline for Rust API availability:

• Mockup API available after workshop in June, implementation will follow workshop
  Current state of affairs: https://github.com/eclipse-score/inc_mw_com/tree/main_api_rs
  Buildable glue code (incompatible with final API) will be shared as part of mw::com engineering code drop.
