session name restricted to 63 characters

Hi, the session name will be composed by id, appDefinition and user_name and it is restricted to 63 characters.

I can't shorten the name in the appDefinition, the application uses theia-cloud-demo by default.
The user_name will be composed by the mail address of the company and therefore it is fix.

Are there any work-around to shorten the session name? Any idea? Many thanks!

Is this about an error related to labels exceeding the allowed length?

For example:
Invalid value: "ws-asdfghjkl-theia-cloud-monitor-theia-foo-theia-cloud-io-session": must be no more than 63 characters

We are currently working on a fix and will provide a 1.0.1 release.
Unfortunately, Kubernetes has length restrictions that are bit random. Sometimes its 63, sometimes 316, sometimes 253 😞

In the meantime, you could use the 0.12.0 release, which has nearly the same feature set as 1.0.0
Are you could try to use a very short appid and very short app definition names until 1.0.1 is released.

Hi, many thanks, but I can't shorten the app definition name.

If I do so, I get the error message, that this name does not match theia-cloud-demo and if I choose demoApplication.install: false
the application tells me that it can't find an AppDefinition in the theia kubernetes installation
