[Bug]: Examples outdated #142

Current Behavior
Many of the examples in this repo are outdated, there are errors in App manifest, they use old VSS versions and they do not work with current version of sdk. Some fixes exist in #141
Steps to Reproduce
Take an example, copy app manifest and src code to a cloned velocitas python template. Try to do "velocitas init" and try to run the app.
Expected Behavior
No (unexpected) errors reported if following instructions
