Fix threading for EDGI slack bridges

Hey @patcon! Can you point me to where I can get started on fixing threading? I was thinking of updating matterbridge to newest version first

When we were in Toronto in January, you were managing things from the command line. What would I need to do the same?

Hi! Remind me what's broken about threading? Also, have you tried upgrading versions yet, according to README, just to see if things get better?
