Access to the "old" room layout

Hi all,
I'm relatively new to using Element X. I've noticed that enabling the "old" room list view is quite complicated (and requires modifying \Element\config.json, adding "show_labs_settings": true" and then enabling in "Settings / Labs / Enable new room list "), and I have a few questions.

• Is the enabling of the previous room list hidden on purpose, because it is eventually going away from the code?
• Is there any intention to make the "old" style of the room list available again as an option?
