Allow blocking of windows 11 Recall as Signal

Hi,
it is very important to implement and enable by default a feature on desktop and web clients, such as Signal, which in Windows 11 prevents the "alleged" AI, called Recall, from capturing screenshots of app content. Unfortunately, without this function/hack, if even one user in a group has Recall enabled, the encryption and privacy of all group members is invalidated.

We already have this. Settings > Preferences > Prevent the window contents from being captured by other apps. We will not be enabling it by default given it has other implications like inability to take screenshots which a lot of users rely on. You can ship your own version of Element Desktop with this enabled by default if you wish.

Thank you for your reply. You are right, it is only present on Windows, which is why I did not find it on GNU/Linux. However, having it disabled means that 90-95% of users will never change it. In practice, it is enough for a user to have disabled it in a group of N members to invalidate e2e encryption for everyone. This is probably why both Signal and Brave have disabled it by default.

We were partly inspired by Signal’s blocking of Recall. Given that Windows doesn’t let non-browser apps granularly disable Recall, Signal cleverly uses the DRM flag on their app to disable all screenshots. This breaks Recall, but unfortunately also breaks the ability to take any screenshots, including by legitimate accessibility software like screen-readers. Brave’s approach does not have this limitation since we’re able to granularly disable just Recall; regular screenshotting will still work. While it’s heartening that Microsoft recognizes that Web browsers are especially privacy-sensitive applications, we hope they offer the same granular ability to turn off Recall to all privacy-minded application developers.
