Point to an option to set Element to have a more Discord-like experience, so friends I invite into the app don't get turned off, seeing it as Messenger/WhatsApp-looking.
Why would you like to do it?
I find many of the defaults unnecessary and see them as visual clutter (read receipts, dedicated notes on changing avatars, nicknames, joining and leaving).
Despite the popup for new accounts asking what you're using the app for, the default timeline settings give Element a vibe of being for friends & family rather than online communities around, say, a video game.
How would you like to achieve it?
Have a dropdown of default presets on top of the Preferences page in the settings, based on the usage options that already exist when you see a popup when you make a new account.
Friends & Family (FB Messenger-style) settings would stay on the current defaults iirc:
Online Communities (Discord-style) settings would be:

Have you considered any alternatives?
The alternative is to manually turn on and off the desired settings in the Preferences pages in settings. That's clunky and not worth the hassle for newcomers, especially since defaults are powerful.
