Description
Your use case
What would you like to do?
I would like to create admins without loosing control.
Why would you like to do it?
Because giving away admin rights seems absolutely okay to most people. Warning dialog is simply clicked away, and even if someone carefully read and evaluated all pros and cons, that still does not mean that in the future this exact admin will remain competent. But oh well, you can't do a single thing now.
How would you like to achieve it?
I propouse two things, first one being extremely easy.
You just need to adjust admin rights to be 999 by default, while keeping the creator of the room at 1000. This might require additional role, but it already exists in understanding of literally everyone - owner. You can still have multiple owners, either by new role or by manually setting someone's rights to 1000, but that process is definetly more "scary" that simple pop-up. Which should make it harder for "normies" to mess up room control or even room being stolen (tho Idk about that, I know only one guy who was really afraid to share admin rights because of that)
Have you considered any alternatives?
Second thing I propouse is a bit more inolved, it is voting process for lovering one's acces rights.
I have no idea about implementation side, but I know of a simple and obvious voting mechanic: by the majority of voices.
51+% admins, if there is not enough then same with moderators, if even moderators are not capable then the voting goes to regular members.
It's obviously not a perfect system, but it's a tool to be used whem there are multiple "gods" not capable of affecting one another.
Additional context
Honestly I am surpised that this haven't beed adressed before, element is suppoused to bring matrix to masses, and tihis exact problem does not exist on any of popular chats, all of them have an owner role.
