Not working when using emacsclient

I generally have a long-running emacs server in the background (/usr/bin/emacs --fg-daemon) that I connect to using emacsclient.

Unfortunately, this package doesn't work with this configuration - when installing & enabling it that way:

(use-package auto-scroll-bar
  :ensure t
  :config
  (auto-scroll-bar-mode t))

no scrollbar gets hidden :c

Everything works fine when starting a regular emacs process though

Any idea how I could debug this?

Sorry, I don’t use emacsclient very often 😓. Are you seeing any errors I could start with?

no problem!

unfortunately, there are no errors that I can see - i think the issue comes from that in this configuration, emacs starts with no windows and no frames

Can confirm- running auto-scroll-bar-mode after opening emacsclient makes it work!

it's probably just running too early
