Is adding annotations supported?

Such a cool project! I'm wondering, will the feature of adding annotations work (or do they already)? For now, the tooltip buttons for highlighting etc. does not actually add annotations, on the website "see it in action" demo.

Hey, thanks for catching that! Those annotation buttons are just mock-ups for now, so they don’t actually work. We’ll hide them in the demo until we’ve got basic highlighting live. Annotations are high on our priority list, you’ll see something soon!

What about saving annotations outside the PDF (JSON) and side loading them per page on render? Looking to allow annotations/comments but the PDFs themselves should be immutable.

Did you manage to achieve this? I’m also interested in storing annotations externally (e.g. JSON) and loading them dynamically without modifying the original PDF.

Same question, I am looking for a elegant way to store those annotations (Highlight, comments) on database and sync cross devices loading them on another device.
