Great news—I've graduated and am excited to actively develop Whispering again!

This project has always been driven by its users, and as I jump back in, I'd love to schedule a brief 20-30 minute chat with as many of you as possible over the next week.

I'm keen to chat with core users to understand:

• How you're currently using (or trying to use) Whispering.
• What are your biggest pain points with Whispering right now?
• What features or improvements would make a significant difference for you?

I wanted to share some exciting news and apologize for being AFK even longer than expected since my last post.

I got into Y Combinator! 🎉

I'm now part of the YC Summer 2025 batch and am working on Whispering full-time, among other things. This is a huge milestone, and it wouldn't have been possible without all of your support, feedback, and patience with this project.

I'm especially grateful to the sponsors and contributors who've stuck with the project: @AlpSantoGlobalMomentumLLC, @BlunderDownUnder, @cgbur, @DavidGP, @doxgt, @noboomu, @north-star-software, @OLH21, @worldoptimizer, @Wstnn, and @rkhrkh. Your support has meant the world to me.

With YC's resources and the ability to focus on Whispering full-time, I'm more committed to maintaining this. I've already started addressing some of the long-standing issues (as you may have noticed from the recent v7.0.0 release and issue responses today).

congratulations on you graduating... i use whispering everyday to type almost anything and everything, it has saved me tremendous amount of efforts and also reduced pain in my fingers because of typing. thank you so much and I wish you develop more such useful tools!

Sorry for not having been responsive to this mail. I feel I use it less lately because I've been using some local application on macOS which are voice type and it allows me to some custom vocabulary easier and some local operation but I would really be interested in having the new Mistral Voxtral API for the new model in Whispering if possible. That would be a good new feature because the model seems amazing. https://mistral.ai/news/voxtral Don’t knxo if it’s possible to have long transcription as well >> 4-5h Regards Olivier
