How to commit new keyword to EGRID file

If I understand correctly, using ResdataKW I created a new keyword, but I could not figure out how to "commit" it to the EGRID file so that I can later view it with Resinsight.

Is this possible? I scanned the documentation but could not find it.

I am still interested in this.

I tried using grid.create_kw and then init_file.save_kw, but since the KW did not exist previously this failed. Is there a way of adding new KWs from the python interface? From ResInsight one can add generated properties, but I want to generate a fairly complex one, which I am hoping to visualize later in ResInsight.
