Thanks. I’ve marked kadi jitendra… sira maṅke as an interpolation using <seg type="interpolation"/>.

As for the reading artha⟨niṅ⟩ śabda, I initially preferred the reading arthaśabda. Nonetheless, the Sanskrit verse in 18.2.1 contains arthaprakāśanārtham (“for the purpose of revealing meanings”), which supports such an interpretation. While I did not find the compound arthaśabda in Gonda’s work, Gerow’s A Glossary of Indian Figure of Speech does explain arthaśabda. As far as I understand it, artha relates to semantic or propositional meaning: touching both comprehension and emotional resonance; while śabda pertains to form, phonology, and grammar: touching auditory beauty and structural regularity. This is a strong foundation to retain the reading arthaśabda in 18.2.2, even if it slightly differs from the corresponding Sanskrit line.
So, would the translation of vənaṅ amintonakən arthaśabda then be: “capable of expressing both semantic content and stylistic linguistic form”?

As for the <pb>, I’ll take care of that soon.

The insertion of <seg type="interpolation"/> does not seem to have any effect in display. Are we again in a situation where the display is not updated after a relevant commit?

Anyhow, I am really not sure I support the reasoning expressed in app1987 and then also applied to the next suspected interpolation.

1. There are other means of highlighting the interest of a passage suspected to be an inteprolcation than includoing it in your critically edited text.
2. Whatever you do, you should not confuse the reader by speaking of "Java" twice in the note, whereas the text doesn't mention Java at all. There is no specific reason to speak of East Java either, is there?
3. In general, I advice keeping your apparatus notes as short and using notes to your translation, or discussion in other chapters of your dissertation, for highlighting interesting aspects of specific witnesses.

Your answer about arthaśabda seems to reveal a misunderstanding on your part of the meaning of my comment. I did not claim that arthaśabda in the meaning of śabdārtha would be find as such in Gonda's work, but that you will probably find analogous cases there. Since the meaning of śabdaprakāśanārtham is "in order to explain words" and since this is captured quite well by by amintonakən artha[niṅ] śabda "showing the meanings of words", the question is where the same meaning could also be expressed by amintonakən arthaśabda, in other word whether inverted tatpurusa compounds (śabdārtha >> arthaśabda) are likely to have been used by your author. I don't think the term arthaśabda as explained by Gerow is relevant.

Thank you for the clarification regarding arthaśabda. I now understand that your point was not about finding arthaśabda as such in Gonda, but rather about recognizing it as an inverted tatpuruṣa, a formation that occurs with some frequency in Old Javanese (But I still search for the other examples). I will revise my apparatus entry accordingly. I agree that in this context, the interpretation amintonakən arthaśabda corresponds well to the Sanskrit śabdaprakāśanārtham in 18.2.1. I will no longer rely on Gerow’s explanation, which seems less relevant here.

Regarding the use of <seg type="interpolation"/>, I did mark kadi jitendra… sira maṅke as a possible interpolation in <rdg/>, but it seems the commit did not update the display. I received an unrelated error notification during the build process (see screenshot attached), which may have prevented the visual from rendering correctly.
