esp8266 wifi module

how to use the wifi module of esp8266.. couldn't find resources.. and esp8266-wifi-serial doesn't compile no matter what I do

The ESP8266 is not and will not be supported by esp-hal. It does not share any similarities with the other chips in the ESP32 lineup, and is nearing end of life, so we have decided not to support it.

While no longer developed, there is still the old esp8266-hal project available, which you may be able to use (possibly with some modification required).

can you please guide me to a reference or some kind of manual to make the modifications.. I'll be really greatful. thanks I. advance
