Discussions replies vs comments?

I want to give my data in the "ESP32 hardware versions" thread.
I see a button to add acomment, but I do not know how to give a reply.
I realize that I do not really know the difference.

So before messing up the discussions I want to know

• How to give a reply when there is no 'reply' button (for the very first reply)?
• What is the difference between 'reply' and 'comment'? Does it matter?

It doesn't matter. Comments are related to the original (first) message. Replies are used to answer on comments.
