Proposal: "seek" function change to "shuttle" for SSB bands

Repeated turning the knob in SSB bands is quite tedious especially with small steps which are essential for proper CW and voice reception. It may lead to finger fatigue and encoder wear. What do you guys think about changing "seek" to "shuttle" in SSB bands? It could start with 50 Hz step and 5 inc/decs per second changing gradually with every encoder tick up to tuning speed of about 10 kHz/s.
Edit: should "seek" really have a timeout?

For now there are two possible steps in SSB mode:

1. The one set in the menu
2. A faster (predefined) one that is activated when you simultaneously press and rotate the encoder

Some users complained that it is not so convenient to do the press+rotate movement, so I just added the Seek menu that will use a faster tuning step on SSB while the menu is active. A test build is available here https://github.com/esp32-si4732/ats-mini/actions/runs/14748116464

Right now I'm working on the direct frequency entry feature that will simplify the tuning process a bit more.

What you are suggesting is basically adding some acceleration to the encoder. I plan to experiment with it in future to see whether it is practical or not.

Much better the Kenwood VFO style: the faster you turn, the greater the tuning step.

This is an acceleration max-arnold wrote about. It may be a good idea, but here we have only a small knob rotated with two fingers which must stop after several ticks because the fingers must be repositioned - so the higher speed is lost.

My idea is basically a "Variable Speed Seek" when you control the tuning speed by "deflection" of the knob from initial "zero" position. The logic should allow for toggling jog/shuttle with short press, switching to volume/bandwidth submenu with middle press and escaping this mode with long press.

I remember that with the Kenwood TS-50 there was no "step". With half a turn of the knob you could move even half a MHz.
With ATS-MINI half a turn corresponds to 10 steps.
10 fast steps at 100kHz are 1MHz.
If you turn slowly the steps are 50Hz, perfect for fine tuning.

A whole OM HF-band it's about 400-500kHz...

I don't want to jump with large steps. It could mean some stations, especially CW when bandwidth could be set to 500Hz will be missed. I want to tune through band as smooth as possible (with as small steps as possible, no more than 250Hz which we don't have here), but still have a possibility to tune faster without having to change step in menu. It could be made by modifying current "seek" function which as for now is unusable in SSB.
Wish I was able to code it myself...
