Screenshot data correct?

I tried the screenshot feature for the first time but wasn't able to convert the hex ascii data I got in my terminal program (CoolTerm on the Mac) into a valid BMP file.
Question: Are these two leading zeroes correct and part of the BMP file? Or should I remove them before trying to convert the data into a BMP file?

btw, I'm trying to convert the ascii data I copy-pasted from CoolTerm with this command:

xxd -r -p mini-radio-screenshot-01.hex > mini-radio-screenshot-01.bmp

... but the resulting BMP file doesn't seem to be correct – neither with the two leading zeroes nor without them. 🤷‍♂️
Stripping all line feed characters doesn't work, either.

Any help?

P.S.: The commandline from the manual, echo -n C | socat stdio /dev/cu.usbmodem101,echo=0,raw | xxd -r -p > /tmp/screenshot.bmp works – but why/how? What am I doing wrong in my above steps?

Hi Stefan,

It looks like the beginning of the BMP hex dump was truncated by the terminal. Quite likely you need to increase the scrollback buffer (history) in CoolTerm to see the full picture :)
