Describe the enhancement

CANBus support in the Packet Transport Component, so I can share sensors between ESPHome clients on the same CANBus network.

Use cases

CANBus is great for use in cars and boats. I have a boat with CANBus and ESPHome nodes and would love to display BMS and motor controller data on a LVGL display. Same use case applies for car networks, or even industrial applications.

I spent an hour on this and: No it does not. This component wraps CANBus frames inside UDP multicast packets and allows you to emulate a CANBus network over a UDP network. I want to use a physical CANBus network. This repo has nothing to do with my use case.

This COULD be useful as a replacement, but I do like the native Packet Transport encapsulation already present in ESPHome instead of using a different standard to try and do the same thing.
