VSCode is missing "Show examples" (IDFGH-17081) (VSC-1831)

• I have read the documentation ESP-IDF Programming Guide and the issue is not addressed there.
• I have updated my IDF branch (master or release) to the latest version and checked that the issue is present there.
• I have searched the issue tracker for a similar issue and not found a similar issue.

General issue report

I installed the VSCode extention using v5,5.2.
The welcome page has no "Show examples" button and using the command "ESP-IDF: Show Example Projects" has no effect either.

Use the New Project Wizard instead, it does the same thing but allows you to set the name, IDF Target and openOCD board setting before selecting the ESP-IDF example as a template.

Which guide did you used ? I'll ask them to update it

I am refering to external guides (developer forums, youtube, ...).

Probabely I have not continued to read the official guide because it is saying "new project" and I was expecting (due to external guides) to see something like "from template" as headline.

This seems like a step backwards. Previously, you could browse the examples and install them by just selecting a location, the project name was defined by the example. Now you have to specify the project name and location, before you even have a chance to browse the examples. So you have to name your project before you are able to browse the example project names.

We can always change the order so you can choose the template first before setting the project name, IDF Target, etc. We could even update the default project name based on selected template. Would that be a more suitable solution @ToddHoug ?

@ToddHoug The changes I mentioned are implemented in the latest release v2.0.2 Please give it a try and hopefully this is a better UX for you.
