Calendar Sync Failed with io-error

As of this morning, my entire calendar is EMPTY on my Android phone!  This is one's worst nightmare.  It appears suddenly the calendar data just doesn't appear on my phone.  Since it hadn't been syncing (as per my previous submission) to the cloud, I now don't even know where my most recent calendar entries reside, if at all!
