I'd like to help you. Could you please give a more information on what platform you are? What installation method you used (docker/bare metal) and if you have any plugins installed.

i used these code to install

but now i know the problem, it's the Nodjs's version older than require.
So there is a new problem: i'm using Debian11 platform, after update the system with "apt update" command, the last version of nodejs i installed by "apt install nodejs -y" command is 14.+.

can i manual adjust the lowest version the pad can run for

You can adjust that version in the package.json. But I would strongly recommend not doing so as it might crash your Etherpad instance and lead to unexpected behavior. We intentionally updated to nodejs 16 as a minimum requirement as NodeJS 14 is EOL and doesn't get any support anymore. So the best you can do is to go to the nodejs website and download the latest nodejs version preferable as a .deb package.
