+# The Ethereum Classic Maintainer Pledge
+
+## Why This Pledge Exists
+
+Ethereum Classic exists because of a commitment to principles over convenience. When the Ethereum community chose to violate the immutability of its ledger in 2016, those who continued the original chain did so because they believed that certain principles — like neutrality, permissionlessness, and resistance to censorship — are non-negotiable.
+
+The same principles that protect the chain must also guide the people who maintain its community resources. Websites, social media accounts, and other community-managed channels carry influence. Remember, there is no "official" anything in ETC — but these channels still shape perception. If maintainers use their privileges to push personal agendas or promote their own projects, it damages the credibility of the ecosystem as a whole.

+This pledge formalizes what has always been expected of maintainers contributing to Ethereum Classic community resources. It draws on the same principles that govern the [@eth_classic](https://github.com/ethereumclassic/tweets-eth_classic?tab=readme-ov-file#rules) social media account rules, and extends them to all community-managed channels.
+
+## The Pledge
+
+As a maintainer of Ethereum Classic community resources, I pledge to uphold the following principles. They are drawn from the foundational documents of the Ethereum Classic project and applied to the stewardship of its community channels.
+
+### From the [Declaration of Independence](/blog/2016-08-13-declaration-of-independence)
+
+The Declaration established that Ethereum Classic is *decentralized, censorship-resistant, and permissionless*. These values apply not only to the protocol but to the way we maintain the ecosystem around it.
+
+#### Decentralization
+
+I will not claim to be an official representative of Ethereum Classic or speak on behalf of the project. No individual or group has the authority to make official statements for a decentralized, permissionless network. My role as a maintainer is custodial, not authoritative.
+
+#### Censorship Resistance
+
+Genuine criticism, uncomfortable truths, and challenging ideas are vital to a healthy ecosystem. I will not suppress or sideline content simply because it is controversial or inconvenient, and I will not use my maintainer privileges to silence dissent.
+
+#### Permissionlessness
+
+I will apply the same standards to all contributors, projects, and community members. Listings, features, and editorial decisions will be based on relevance, accuracy, and merit — not personal relationships, financial interests, or political alignment.

+
+The Manifesto identified three characteristics essential to blockchain-enabled cooperation: *openness, neutrality, and immutability*. These same characteristics must be reflected in how we maintain community resources.
+
+#### Openness
+
+Anyone should be able to participate in the Ethereum Classic community regardless of background, identity, or viewpoint. I will not gatekeep participation or act as a bottleneck to contribution. Decisions about community resources should be made through rough consensus, not unilateral declarations. Content should inform, not instruct — laying out facts and context so that readers can form their own conclusions.

+#### Neutrality
+
+Debate is healthy and I am free to express my own opinions, but when using community platforms that carry outsized reach, information must not mislead and should be presented in a fair and balanced way, with relevant context and disclaimers where appropriate. Opinions should be framed as such. I will not use these channels to attack or promote non-ETC projects, engage in tribalism, or pursue personal agendas.

+#### Immutability
+
+Just as the ledger cannot be rewritten, the historical record of the ecosystem should be preserved honestly, not edited to suit present narratives. I will not delete, hide, or alter discussions to cover up disagreements or past decisions. Transparency in discourse is as important as transparency on-chain. Claims will be grounded in fact, and where something is speculative or uncertain, it will be clearly labeled as such.

+### Further Commitments
+
+#### Dignity
+
+I will engage with ideas, not individuals. Arguments should be addressed on their merits, not by attacking the person making them. Ad hominem has no place in reasoned discourse.
+
+#### Respecting Anonymity
+
+Pseudonymity is a cornerstone of permissionless systems. I will never reveal or attempt to reveal the real-world identity of any community member without their explicit consent. Doxing — in any form, for any reason — is a violation of the trust that decentralized communities depend on.
+
+#### No Agenda-Pushing
+
+I will not use community channels to advance personal, political, or financial agendas. This includes subtle forms of influence such as selectively featuring content, timing publications to manipulate sentiment, or framing information in misleading ways. The community's trust depends on maintainers acting as stewards, not gatekeepers.
+
+#### Safety
+
+I will not link to scams, encourage the purchase of specific assets, or expose community members to unnecessary risk. Where third-party projects are referenced, appropriate context and disclaimers will be provided.
+
+## Accountability
+
+This pledge is a public commitment. If a maintainer's conduct falls short of these standards, community members are encouraged to raise the issue openly. Maintainers who repeatedly or egregiously violate these principles should expect to have their access reviewed by other maintainers.
+
+The strength of Ethereum Classic has always been its community's willingness to hold the line on principle. This pledge is simply an extension of that culture to the people who help keep the lights on.
+
