Overview

This specification defines a mechanism for the selective disclosure of individual elements of a JSON data structure used as the payload of a JSON Web Signature (JWS). The primary use case is the selective disclosure of JSON Web Token (JWT) claims.

  • 2025-11-27: The TS was published as 'IETF RFC 9901 - Selective Disclosure for JSON Web Tokens proposed standard', on 2025-11-19.
  • 2025-11-18: The draft v22 was updated on 2025-11-15.
  • 2025-11-07: The EC expects the publication before the end of 2025. The target date was set at this point to 2025-11-30.
  • 2025-08-29: A stable draft version was already approved by the WG and by the IESG. The draft is handled now by the RFC editor.
  • 2025-07-07: The most recent draft is draft 22, and its status is now "Proposed standard". The version was published on 2025-05-29, last updated 2025-06-06.
