need a quick noob qt-material installer help

I try this but there is an error.

How to solve this?

I don't know much about "MX Linux" but it's purportedly based on Debian. If you're on the latest version (Trixie foundation), then the python3-qt-material package should be available to you. I'd suggest attempting to install it:

sudo apt install python3-qt-material

If you encounter issues, their support forum might offer the best help.

Ahh, well the best option in my opinion would be to upgrade but apparently this is officially unsupported by MX Linux. If migration is a possibility for you, that would be the next best option since then MX Linux/Debian can automatically manage the module updates via the upstream package.

Otherwise you'll need to manage installation and updates manually. Here you have a few options:

1. Install it into your user profile: python3 -m pip install --break-system-packages qt-material. The --break-system-packages option is required. This installs the package inside ~/.local/lib/.
2. Create a new Python virtual environment and install the dependency there. I won't describe this method but it would also require executing opensnitch-ui using the venv, i.e. modifying the .desktop Desktop entry.
3. Use sudo to install the dependency globally, but this can interfere with other system packages and is generally a bad idea unless you understand the risks and need to simplify support for multiple users. Although the wiki does reference installing Python dependencies this way. The choice is yours.

Nope, I don't want to try this right now :) Upgrading MX or play around with Python (break system packages) doesn’t make it worth the risk.

In this particular case it only downloads a folder under $HOME/.local/lib/python3.11/site-packages/ as ryan-steed-usa said.
It should not affect any other packages.
