We've been trying to setup the project, after a while of trying we've managed to create an account but when we try to create a project we get this:
TypeError: Cannot read property 'canvas' of undefined
at render_canvas (/cms-api/node_modules/trianglify/lib/pattern.js:54:9)

Also to mention that node.js v12 doesn't work with this project

It's been some time, so you probably don't care anymore.
But I had the same problem and could solve it by installing the necessary dependencies for node-canvas, mentioned on their github https://github.com/Automattic/node-canvas

Plus using an older version of node.
if that doesn't help you could try bumping the version of trianglify
