Is it possible to write execution result back to a notebook?

When building a notebook using jupyter-book, is it possible to write result back into the notebook? The reason that I ask about this is for easy integration/collaboration in JupyterLab.

Not currently, we generally try not to modify any of the source materials as a part of building the book
