Current Situation
Currently, there doesn’t appear to be a way to quickly open a file or navigate to the download directory where a track, playlist, or album was saved. Adding a few options to open the containing folder or play the downloaded file directly from within the program would be a highly useful quality-of-life improvement.
Suggestion / Feature Request
I have a few different ideas on how these functions could be implemented, with visual inspiration from some other similar programs:
Possibility 1: Right-click context menu to open file or containing folder from the download queue
Currently, the only right-click action available is “Copy Share URL” in the search panel, and there are no options for downloaded tracks. Adding “Show in Folder” or “Open File” options once tracks are downloaded would be extremely useful.
To flesh the context menu out further, the “Copy Share URL” function could also appear in the download queue, alongside additional relevant options (maybe a “Delete File” option if a user queued a download by accident?)
Additionally (though secondary to this request) it would be really cool to eventually include options such as “Search by Artist” or “Filter by Album” when right-clicking in the search browser.
This screenshot is from a P2P program with features irrelevant to tidal-dl-ng, but it’s an example of how such a context menu might look:

Possibility 2: Folder icon in the download queue header to open the default download directory
I’m thinking a small folder icon to the right of “Download Queue” (above the list of downloaded tracks) could open the user’s configured download directory in Windows Explorer, Finder, or Dolphin. This would provide one-click access to the main folder where downloaded content is stored.
Here is the current download queue header:

This is a screenshot from a different program with similar functionality to tidal-dl-ng, and how it implemented this feature. The information shown when hovering over the icon is unimportant- clicking the folder icon opens the user’s set download directory:

Possibility 3: Configurable double-click behavior
Presently, double clicking a downloaded track from inside the download queue does nothing, which I feel like is a big potential addition to tidal-dl-ng’s functionality. In the simplest scenario, just having the ability to double-click a download from the queue to show it in the containing folder would be great.
Adding to this, having an option in the settings allowing users to choose what happens on double-click (either opening the file directly in the system default media player, or showing the file in its containing folder) would make file management even smoother.
This image is from the same program shown in Possibility 1, and a lot of these features wouldn’t be needed- just illustrating what those settings might look like:

While all of these functions can be done by the user in their own file managers and are purely for QoL, any or all of these additions would greatly enhance tidal-dl-ng’s functionality, and improve the user’s workflow and ability to organize and manage downloaded music.
Thank you for all your hard work on this amazing program, and for considering these quality-of-life feature requests!
