Narf, cmake 3.22+ is required which itself requires libc 2.34+ which again breaks compatibilty for older systems :(

Might use cmake from pypi:

I don't know how they're compiling libsignal, but the version from https://media.projektzentrisch.de/temp/signal-cli/tests/ works on an arm system.

@morph027: Alternatively, if you want to use a package from a public/well-known server, a snapshot of cmake 3.25.1-1~bpo11+1 is available here for Debian 11 "Bullseye". This suffix tells you that a newer CMake is also available through the "bullseye-backports pocket", which might be easier to use than pip above:

btw....using cargo-zigbuild is finally straight forward to use.

Just add some cross libs and run it. No fiddling with CC or LD_LIBRARY_PATH etc. (example script in my build repo)

basically comes down to:

As zig allows targeting a specific libc (2.17 in the example), we can use up to date docker images as build base e.g. rust:trixie which brings newer cmake and so on.
